Manufacturer's Intent: You love the Equinox, you asked for even more hook. Here it is! The Equinox Solid marks the return of the unmatched Solarion A.I. Core, now paired with the next evolution of Storm's Adhesion System Technology - A2S. If you're chasing total hook, the Equinox Solid will stand toe-to-toe with the Ion Max, but with a dramatically different shape and motion. It's bold, aggressive, and built to stand out.
Storm's newest Premier series ball is exactly what they've promised in the brand marketing of the product. If you're looking for more aggressive hook on heavier oil, you really don't need to look any further than Equinox Solid. Equinox Solid starts with a high-powered asymmetric core shape that has huge track flare potential. Combined with a 2000 grit sanded finish, this ball loves oil and hates the dry. Typically, these balls are simply not in play at Olathe Lanes East where I bowl on Tuesday nights. So, I tried something a little different with this new piece.
First, I took the ball up to a 4000 grit finish before I ever threw it. Second, I used larger drill angle than normal in an attempt to delay and soften the hook overall. The combination of both of these actually worked out really well, and this Equinox Solid plays a high-traction, smooth rolling type of motion on the lane. I don't bowl in a heavier oil environment real often, but it's obvious from how this one rolls that Equinox Solid would be a home on heavier oil.
The most natural comparison in the Storm lineup would be last year's Ion Max. From what I've seen, Equinox Solid is probably a touch longer through the first half of the lane, where Ion Max really digs in quickly. As the original Equinox shows with the Solarion A.I. Core, this one is also rounded and smooth down lane. If you're a Storm player who enjoys your Ion Max, you could easily drill an Equinox Solid with a touch less surface and have an extremely complimentary product. Equinox Solid also looks like a perfect ball to throw on the fresh before you can get to the trusted Phaze II in the Storm lineup.
Don't miss out on this new piece from Storm! Storm's Equinox Solid is in-stock in 12#-15# at Total Bowling Gear now.
