Manufacturer's Intent: The Hyperdrive harnesses the proven power of the RST Block + A.I. Core Technology. This innovative core design delivers incredible energy retention and a dynamic motion that translates into maximum pin action. The intelligent design of the A.I. Core ensures optimal energy transfer, allowing the ball to rev up and maintain momentum as it drives through the pins.
Roto Grip's newest asymmetric offering delivers super long performance with a strong downlane response. Mine is drilled with my regular pin up layout, designed for the maximum length and backend combination. RST Hyperdrive Pearl definitely delivers that. After starting this series with the orange/pink solid designed exclusively for heavy oil, this new introduction has been released for use on a wide range of lane conditions. With the Power Edge polished finish, the RST Hyperdrive Pearl is usable on everything from medium-light oil, all the way up to medium-heavy oil conditions.
I've thrown this piece at multiple bowling centers, and it truly has rolled fantastic everywhere I've been. RST Hyperdrive Pearl revs fast in the front of the lane, but the polished cover gets this one through the midlane with extreme ease. With a high differential core design, I see this ball begin to transition in the late mid-lane on the house shots around here. The backend is where RST Hyperdrive Pearl really stands out, with tons of boards crossed from the breakpoint to the pin deck. In my opinion, this is the best polished asymmetric option in the Storm Products family of balls right now. Attention Star was a very good piece and still holds up. I just find this product to matchup far better across the conditions I've seen than the other Storm and 900 Global options.
I've done nothing with the surface of this ball since drilling it since I'm very happy with the performance of it. Along with the DV8 Severe Collision drilled earlier this season, I have two exceptional polished asymmetric balls in the bag right now. I do think the RST Hyperdrive Pearl looks versatile enough to try some surface changes. Just knocking a small amount of the polish off the cover may make this one extremely good on nearly every fresh league condition around town.
