Manufacturer's Intent: DV8’s Collision series has already delivered Violent, Brutal, and Wicked results—but now it’s time for something even more intense: the DV8 Severe Collision. Engineered to be the most angular Collision yet, this beast features the cutting-edge HK22C – Cohesion base with Havoc Hybrid additives for maximum responsiveness and traction. The result? A fierce, high-powered backend motion that snaps hard and finishes strong, even on heavy oil. Built for bowlers who demand sharp transitions and relentless continuation, the Severe Collision proves that sometimes being wicked and brutal just isn’t enough.
DV8's new Severe Collision extends their string of high asymmetric high-performance balls with exceptionally strong cores and covers. For a long time, DV8 has made some of the stronger rolling balls in the brands that Brunswick produces, and Severe Collision definitely extends that run. Severe Collision combines that strong core with a HK22C cover that increases traction in oil, even with a polished coverstock.
My Severe Collision is drilled with my standard pin up drilling. I don't often use lower pin drilling on asymmetric balls, as they simply roll up too quickly with my heavy forward roll. I was glad I stuck with this on the Severe, as this ball would have been much too strong with anything other than this layout. With the tall 5 1/2" pin layout, the Severe Collision is fairly long through the front of the lane, with huge response to the backend. I haven't found a lane condition where this ball won't corner to some degree. Severe Collision is the textbook definition of skid/snap in my bag. This is easily the longest and strongest piece I currently own, and I'm not sure there are many other options on the wall that would backend more than what I've seen out of this ball.
We'll be recommending Severe Collision to any customers looking for more backend motion in their bag. If you're bowling on some softer lane conditions where you have room outside of your target, this ball should be a lot of fun to throw. Severe Collision is very good at big launch angles through the front of the lane. With the polished cover, you should also be able to throw this piece on heavy oil, all the way down to some drier environments as long as you're willing to keep moving in.
Severe Collision is available now at Total Bowling Gear in 14# and 15#. Come see us for more info on this great launch from DV8!
