Manufacturer's Intent: The Danger Zone is back and better than ever. Originally introduced in 1996, the Danger Zone became one of the most iconic and best-selling balls in Brunswick history. Thirty years later, we’re honoring that legacy with a modern update designed for today’s game. The new Danger Zone features the same proven core shape that made the original a legend, now paired with our advanced HK22 coverstock technology to deliver stronger performance and versatility for today’s lane conditions, and will be a house shot killer. This release not only celebrates the past, but also launches an all-new Danger Zone line, engineered to exceed expectations at a price point that screams value. The Danger Zone is once again sure to become a staple in the Brunswick line and a must-have for bowlers everywhere.

I'm not sure why I waited so long to try one of these, but Royal Crest Lanes and what I've been seeing on the lane forced me into driling a couple of symmetric core options. A lot of the balls I've drilled recently have been asymmetric balls, simply because that's what has shown up to try. But the conditions at RCL have been asking for something different than what the asymmetric cores give on the lane. So I took a Danger Zone Black out of stock and gave it a little different layout than normal.

I started by sanding this ball to 2000 grit sanded. I thought this would be the proper surface matchup at the Mike Medlen Scratch League, and it turned out to be perfect. I also drilled this ball a little stronger than normal, using a 4 1/2" pin to pap distance. This creates a moderately strong flaring ball, somewhere between 4" and 5". The resulting motion was heavy midlane revolutions with a strong, but continuous shape on the lane. "Strong arc" is how I would describe the shape from the Danger Zone Black. It turned out to be just what I needed to matchup on the fresh condition at RCL. This ball is the perfect compliment to any stronger symmetric ball, as it gets down the lane and hooks just a touch less than the super sanded symmetric balls in the market, like Fallout or Phaze II. I actually liked this ball so much that I've drilled a second one, and will report back on that one later. I've not a chance to throw it yet as of this review publication. This is one of those balls that you could drill multiple versions of and get complimentary ball motion on the lane.

Take a look at this value priced option from Brunswick. It's definitely got a lot of bang for the buck. Brunswick's Danger Zone is avaialble every day at Total Bowling Gear!
